“Festivals are fun for kids, fun for parents, and offer a welcome break from the stress of the nuclear family. The sheer quantities of people make life easier.”—Tom Hodgkinson. [1]

Festivals and traditions are an important part of human culture. Many countries have their own festivals and traditions, such as Thailand's annual Water Sprinkling Festival in April. They splash water on each other, believing that they can begin the new year with beauty and purity; Indians splash colorful powder on each other in March to express their best wishes; and Spaniards celebrate Carnival to demonstrate their love for freedom and peace. China, a powerful country with a five-thousand-year history, has its own festivals, one of which is the Spring Festival. This festival has many unique traditions, such as lucky money and couplets.

The Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year, is a major holiday observed in China and many other countries with sizable Chinese populations. It is traditionally observed around the turn of the traditional lunar solar Chinese calendar, which occurs between January 21st and February 20th. The Spring Festival is one of China's most important holidays, and it is celebrated with a variety of traditional activities and customs, such as family gatherings, feasts, giving red envelopes filled with money as gifts, and decorating homes with red lanterns and paper cutouts. It is also a time to honor ancestors and wish for peace, prosperity, and good fortune in the coming year.

This celebration incorporates Chinese knowledge and beliefs that date back more than four thousand years. People can better comprehend Chinese culture, especially for children, by participating in this celebration. They can gain some understanding of history and culture and develop a sense of national pride. In addition, it gives folks an opportunity to get back together with their families. Many parents are forced to leave their kids because they have to travel for business.

The Spring Festival is essentially the only opportunity they get to interact with their kids personally and enjoy family time. By playing with firecrackers and sharing the significance of this celebration with their children, they can make a lot of wonderful memories with them. Children will understand the love and hard working from parents. It is also an important period for people to refresh their mind and release their soul so that they have energy and passion to face new challenges next year.

PCOL FRANCISCO B BULWAYAN Jr., BCPO City Director, has deployed 1,196 security forces in strategic areas throughout Baguio City in preparation for the Spring Festival 2023 celebration on January 28, 2023. During the Spring Festival, PNPA cadets from the MASIDTALAK class of 2023 joined the Baguio's Finest to maintain crowd control, peace, and order. During the activities, more than 1,100 security personnel, including 150 Guardians volunteers, were stationed en route to the parade. The BAGUIO's FINEST aimed for "Zero Major Crime" incidents during the festival.
