CAP DAY 3: "POLICE ACTIVITES"

Updated: Feb 14, 2023

"My heroes are those who risk their lives every day to protect our world and make it a better place – police, firefighters and members of our armed forces.” ~ Sidney Sheldon[1]

The cadets were present at the Monday flag-raising ceremony and the start of the Spring Festival, which was led by Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong and the Filipino-Chinese Baguio City chapter. Following the activity, we proceeded to the Baguio City Police Station's conference room, where we were welcomed by BCPO Chief of Police PCol. Francisco Bayubay Bulwayan and his command group divided the cadets into three groups to be deployed in three major Baguio City Police Office units which are Investigation Section at BCPO Station 7, composed of 4 police cadet namely PCDT BUCALEN, PCDT GUIMTE, PCDT BALALLO, and PCDT CANLAS with the supervision of Station 7 Commander PLTCOL. ROGER KURT PACIFICAR.

The second group is the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC), composed also of 4 Police Cadets namely PCDT TAPIRU, PCDT TUL-ING, PCDT DONGUIS, PCDT PIGGINGAY, supervised by PLTCOL. RENNY D. LIZARDO and lead by BCPO SWAT Team Leader JUN PATOT TAD-O, and The last group is the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), which is composed of PCDT DUCAY, PCDT LOY-OD, PCDT EDDUBA, and PCDT PAY-AN and is led by the BCPO Chief TEU, PLTCOL. ZACARIAS CALOY P. DAUSEN.

Under the leadership of PLTCOL. ZACARIAS CALOY P.DAUSEN, the Traffic Enforcement Unit's main operation area is in the vicinity of the central business district; the TEU is divided into four sectors to facilitate operation and coordination of personnel. Their operational work begins at 6:30 a.m. for accounting and ends at 7:00 p.m., they use radio communication, and they enforce city ordinances for traffic tickets.

The following issues have been encountered in TEU: the volume of cars entering and exiting the city, road congestion, an overabundance of tourists, and a lack of parking space. Building high rise parking spaces, using vacant lots for pay parking, diversion of roads, color and number coding, and making some roads one way are some solutions that can help reduce traffic in the city.

On a daily basis, the police force performs a variety of duties and functions. These duties and functions are critical for maintaining public safety, enforcing the law, and ensuring the community's well-being. These responsibilities and functions include the prevention and control of criminal activities such as theft, robbery, and violence, as well as the maintenance of public safety and security by patrolling the streets, conducting investigations, and responding to emergency situations.

In addition, the police are in charge of managing and regulating traffic in order to ensure the safety of motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. This includes directing traffic, enforcing traffic laws and regulations, and responding to accidents. It also collects and analyzes information about criminal activities in order to help prevent and control crime. Monitoring criminal activity, conducting surveillance, and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies are all examples of what this entails.
